Dean of students says Angel Tree program expanded districtwide, 80 families referred

"As of today... we have 80 families that have been referred for support for the holiday season," Harry said, and later reported "a total of 153 angel tags I've done so far." He said businesses in Avon and Abingdon have donated about $1,000 so far and additional donations are promised.
Harry said staff prioritized students and siblings last year and that this year the program — called ATEL's angels in the discussion — will cover the whole district. He described staff and community volunteers coordinating lists and distributing tags, with staff receiving first pick among student tags. The program organizers are actively contacting referred families; Harry said about 10 families had not yet responded to outreach.
The report was presented during the public-comment portion of the meeting; board members thanked Harry and had no substantive questions during that period. The item required no formal board action.
