Board proclaims Motorcycle Awareness Month, backs WIOA and approves purchases and policies

The Sanilac County Board adopted a set of resolutions and administrative approvals at its April 15 meeting. The board unanimously adopted a resolution proclaiming May as Motorcycle Awareness Month; ABATE of Michigan representatives thanked the board and a photo opportunity followed the proclamation.
The board also approved a resolution expressing strong support for the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and urging continued funding. On administrative matters, the board approved payment of current claims ($127,738.03), additional general-fund checks charged to March 2025 totaling $731,926.77 (ACH $532,192.54; checks $199,734.23), and authorized the purchase of four 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe police-package vehicles at $53,986 each (total not to exceed $215,944).
Other approvals included renewal of a consulting agreement with MGT of America for prosecutor-office accounting (rates effective 10/01/2025), a limestone purchase agreement for Evergreen Park (139 tons, not to exceed $5,000), authorization to purchase an animal-control truck box (not to exceed $4,600; estimated 4–6 week lead time), and adoption of an earned sick leave (ESTA) policy for regular part-time, temporary and seasonal employees. All motions were approved by voice vote or roll call as noted in the record.
