Trustees reviewed and advanced several policy items and passed ceremonial resolutions at the May meeting. Trustee Williams brought BP 0415 (equity) forward with an amendment to explicitly include students with disabilities and LGBTQIA2S+ communities; trustees accepted the language at first reading and waived a second reading. The board also moved to adopt BP 5141.52 (suicide prevention) and BP 5145.13 (response to immigration enforcement) with CSBA-recommended additions and accepted both policies by vote.
The board adopted Resolution 25-16 recognizing Pride Month (with added language honoring the queer youth leadership award) and Resolution 25-17 recognizing Juneteenth; both passed unanimously by roll-call vote. Trustees emphasized the policies and resolutions as aligned with student safety and equity commitments. A minor typographical error in the posted policy document (a misspelling of "education") was noted on the record and will be corrected in the published packet.
