Indian Grove Principal William Timmins and IG art teacher Mr. Feltman told the board Oct. 8 that the school will follow an "Art/Music Around the World" curriculum strand this year and will integrate social-emotional learning across grade levels.
Mr. Feltman displayed student artwork and demonstrated a 3D laser printer the school obtained through a grant. Timmins said the school will hold an art showcase in Spring 2025 and described schoolwide emphasis on building relationships, reporting and recognizing bullying, growth mindset activities and instruction aimed at helping students elaborate and clarify their thinking in speaking and writing.
The presentation positioned the curriculum and the grant-funded technology as supports for both creative work and instructional standards that emphasize discourse and social-emotional growth. Timmins indicated staff will continue to align resources and routines to support those goals over the 2024–25 school year.
