Library reports strong summer turnout; city staff cite software issues and approve pool refunds

Don Meadows of the Missouri Valley Public Library told the council June had been "very, very busy" with the summer-reading program, author visits and other activities and said the June door count was the highest of the year. Meadows listed upcoming events including a paint-and-plant program and a garden-party paint event, thanked city staff for help during an air-conditioning outage and invited council questions about library statistics.
City-administrator reported ongoing issues with a recently implemented software system that prevented water bills from being sent and complicated month-end reconciliation; the administrator requested approval to process three small customer refunds related to a canceled pool-party, a missed swim-lesson week and a church cancellation, and council approved the refunds. Council asked staff to continue working on the billing reconciliations and to report back when the system is stable.
