Committee accepts donated AED for Wareham Alternative Cooperative School

The Wareham School Committee voted to accept an automated external defibrillator (AED) donated by the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office for the Wareham Alternative Cooperative School, to be housed at the McDuffie Center.
Superintendent Amy asked the committee to accept the device, saying it would improve safety and access for students and staff who work out of the McDuffie Center. “It’s a generous gift to the McDuffie Center,” she said.
Committee members asked whether AEDs are present in other schools and who would provide training. Members noted that many AED units include on-device instructions and that quick trainings are often provided by town paramedics or lead nurses; the superintendent committed to confirm how training and device orientation will be provided across buildings.
A motion to accept the gift was moved and seconded, and the committee approved the acceptance by roll call (Roger: yes; Joyce: yes; Kevin: yes; Chair: yes).
