County clears contractor to start Hamrick Ridge bridge work; materials ordering to begin

Park County authorized Battle Ridge Builders to proceed with the Hamrick Ridge bridge replacement project and to begin ordering materials so work can proceed when the bridge components arrive. Roads staff said the existing bridge is closed because it cannot structurally carry weight, and that contractors will order the steel components and begin preparatory work as timelines allow.
Staff explained steel bridges have long lead times and estimated vendors were currently quoting about four months for a steel bridge. "So in this situation where the bridge is already closed because it can't structurally handle any weight, they can actually start work earlier than they get the bridge," a roads representative said. Commissioners approved moving forward so the contractor can order materials and schedule installation.
