Park County allocates opioid‑settlement money to jump‑start mobile crisis response

Park County commissioners voted to direct a portion of the county's opioid settlement funds to support a planned mobile crisis response team shared with the city. Shannon, the county's health department director, told the board the county currently has roughly $110,000 in settlement receipts and requested about $20,000 be used this fiscal year to help launch the joint response team, saying the city and hospital would also contribute and that a state grant award was pending.
"Currently, we have about a $110,000 in those, settlement funds that we received," Shannon said while outlining the proposal and funding sources. Commissioner (speaker 7) moved to allocate the settlement funds to the crisis diversion project; another commissioner seconded the motion and the board approved the allocation by voice vote. Staff said the city, the hospital and a state grant will supplement the county contribution as the program is stood up.
