The District Health Insurance Committee for Rankin School District #98 affirmed its recommendation on 2025 insurance renewal rates and options and decided to forward the proposal to the full Board of Education. Dr. Matt Gordon said the committee remained comfortable with its original recommendations despite recent back-and-forth with Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Dr. Matt Gordon, a committee member, said the meeting provided an opportunity to ensure members had time to consider alternative options and that recent vendor uncertainty did not alter the committee's work. He said he "planned to bring forward the recommendations to the full BOE on behalf of the Committee." The committee recorded no changes to the recommendation during the session.
The committee took no formal vote on the renewal recommendation at the meeting; Dr. Gordon indicated the next step was to present the recommendation to the full Board of Education for its consideration. Meeting minutes show the committee discussed the matter as a substantive agenda item but did not record additional amendments, dollar figures, or an imposed effective date in the minutes.
