Trustee presses district over unlocked gates, seeks accountability after reported campus vulnerabilities

Superintendent Dr. Eduardo Zuniga and district safety staff explained that site administrators and campus supervisors are assigned gate‑security responsibilities, that some gates are intentionally left open for visitor parking/egress, and that modernization work and DSA approvals have changed the location and function of some entry points. District safety staff said they will follow up at the two sites Guzman named — Mountain View and South Del Monte — to identify any implementation gaps and return with corrective actions. "If we see something, if the gate is open, we close it," a district safety official said, and pledged to reconcile site safety plans with actual practices during the next site visits.
Trustees accepted the commitment and asked staff to report back on site‑specific gaps and accountability steps.
