County administrator announces new Sanilaccounty.gov site and reviews Earned Sick Time Act implications

County Administrator Nathan told the board that a new, mobile-friendly county website — Sanilaccounty.gov — will roll out tomorrow and that staff will issue a press release to the local paper. "New county website, sandalitecounty.gov will be rolling out tomorrow," Nathan said during his administrative report, adding the redesign includes search tools and improved "how do I" navigation to make services more accessible.
Nathan also briefed commissioners on the recently enacted Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA). He said county employees already receive leave provisions that exceed the act's minimum, but staff will review a small number of part-time or seasonal positions not covered by union agreements and "we might have to make some subtle adjustments" to ensure compliance. "The nice part is our employees already receive more time than what is required by this act," Nathan said.
Nathan discussed other state-level proposals, including a long-running idea to create a revenue-sharing trust fund for county funding stability and continuing conversations about road funding and court staffing.
Commissioners asked no follow-up questions during the report; Nathan said further work on union negotiations and compensation discussions will continue this month and that details will be brought back to the board as they are available.
