The board discussed that voting to withdraw membership would remove postseason eligibility for all students rather than changing participation rules for any subgroup, a point the board president stressed: "this vote is not about, it's the policies on transgender students participating in sports follow all the applicable laws and NHSAA regulations... It would basically eliminate eligibility for all students."
After discussion, the board conducted a roll call vote and approved renewal of the MHSAA membership. The superintendent and board members emphasized the district follows the association’s process and that decisions about individual athlete eligibility are made through the established administrative and MHSAA procedures.
