Board approves routine expenditures and several budget actions, accepts Byrne JAG grant

The Board approved general warrants and wire transfers totaling $793,428.58 and certified payroll and status reports for June 2026. The consent calendar passed by roll call. The Board also accepted a Byrne Justice Assistance Grant for $40,831 and approved amending and appropriating those funds; accepted a $1,000 donation to the Sheriff's Office from Fellowship Baptist Church; and approved designating Lenco as a sole-source vendor for an armored vehicle purchase.

Budget Committee recommendations carried as presented: the Board approved a Victim Witness Whistleblower policy, amended the DSS budget to fund a $7,510 salary/benefit increase, reorganized E-911 positions (lateral transfer to a vacant Shift Supervisor position and title changes), and amended FY27 to appropriate $127,908 for a 1% cost-of-living salary revision. Separately, the Board authorized up to $3,500 in local funds to match an MRPDC $40,000 grant for the Pres Jackson housing preliminary engineering report and appropriated the funds.
