Woodview students demonstrate store-run program and teachers outline 'lab classroom' observations

Woodview Principal Bruce Cook introduced teacher Kirk Groenenboom and instructional coach Jenne Romanick, who presented a suite of classroom innovations at the Belding Area School District board meeting on March 17, 2025. Groenenboom and students described "Buc-ees Adventure," a program that gives students hands-on experience managing and running a store, and they reviewed updates to the pedestrian trail between the Orchard Hills building and the Woodview building.
Romanick explained the district's lab-classroom initiative, saying the labs "provide teachers the opportunity to observe another teacher's classroom as well as welcoming others to join in their classrooms." She said the program is currently offered to teachers in the fall and spring to expand peer coaching and in-classroom professional development. Board members praised the classroom-based learning and the student-centered store project as practical learning tied to daily school operations.
