Board approves Schools of Choice window for Macomb County; district reports roughly one-third choice enrollment

The board approved participation in the Schools of Choice program for students residing in Macomb County, opening Feb. 1, 2025 and closing Sept. 12, 2025 (motion by Susan DeLong, seconded by Wendy Tobias). The motion passed with six yeas and one absence.
When asked whether this was the normal enrollment window, Dr. DiPonio confirmed it was, and he said approximately one-third of students enrolled at Lake Shore Public Schools are schools-of-choice students. Board members asked routine questions about the enrollment window and thanked staff for clarifying.
