Jon Barth, the district’s Director of Facilities Management and Transportation, presented a recommended fleet purchase that would add two special-education buses (21-passenger with one wheelchair position, lift and AC) and eight 71-passenger buses to the district fleet.
According to the minutes, "It is the Administration's recommendation that Hoekstra Transportation Inc. be awarded the bus purchase contract in the amount of $1,423,700.00 with funds to come from the Capital Projects (Building & Site - 2020) Fund." Board discussion and questions followed; the administration said the purchase would bring total replacement to 82 new buses (approximately 95% of the existing fleet). The board will consider formal action on this recommendation at the Dec. 17, 2024 regular meeting.
