The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education voted 7-0 Monday to award the Marquette Alternative High School Renovations Project to Premeau Construction Inc.
Jason Zdunek moved to award the contract and Jennifer Klipp seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The architect of record, Integrated Designs, Inc. (IDI), recommended Premeau after tabulating two bids and reported a base bid of $334,900. In a written recommendation included in the meeting packet, IDI President Travis D. Hongisto wrote, "It is IDI's recommendation to work with Premeau Construction Inc. to perform the work." The district was advised to budget an additional 10% (approximately $33,500) to address unexpected occurrences or work additions.
Board President Kristen Cambensy opened the item during new business and the board approved the award as part of regular motions taken at the meeting. No amendments to the award were reported during the discussion, and the motion recorded a 7-0 tally in favor.
The award authorizes Premeau to proceed in coordination with district staff and the architect; the district packet noted that a formal notice of award would be issued once MAPS provides direction to IDI to proceed.
