The Marquette Area Public Schools Board voted on March 17 to award the Sandy Knoll Elementary School Roof Replacement project to Bell Roofing Company following a consultant review of bids.
GEI Consultants of Michigan reviewed the single responsive proposal and recommended awarding the work to Bell Roofing. In a March 12 letter, GEI summarized the base bid as $389,000 with a $10,000 contingency allowance and concluded: "It is our recommendation that the contract be awarded to Bell Roofing Company in the amount of $399,000." Trustee Jason Zdunek moved to award the contract and Trustee Eric Smith seconded; the motion carried 7-0.
The award follows the facilities briefing and questions the board asked about short-term capital projects. Administration and GEI will complete contract documentation and oversee project scheduling and change-order controls.
