Elko County renews interlocal Medicaid reimbursement agreement for ambulance service through 2030

Chris McCann, chief of Elko County Ambulance Service, described the interlocal contract renewal with the Nevada Health Authority allowing the county ambulance service to participate in the Medicaid-certified public-expenditure program for ground emergency medical transportation for the term July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2030. "Like the description says, the program really is to help offset cost to public agencies like our ambulance service," McCann said, explaining the program helps recover a portion of costs when Medicaid payments are low.
McCann said the service has participated in the program since about 2016; staff told the board a renewal is required for continued participation. The board moved, seconded and approved the renewal by voice vote at the meeting. No contested public comment or roll-call vote was recorded in the transcript.
