County accepts $165,000 appraisal for 55-acre Jackpot parcel for affordable housing plan

Rice said the donation would include development stipulations (groundbreaking deadlines and other milestones) and that staff would assist with infrastructure through ARPA funds. Commissioners asked whether zoning would need to change (it would be rezoned from open space to an R2 residential district as part of the subdivision and development process); the board approved the appraisal and left subsequent agreement and resolution items to be completed later.
Why this matters: The county action clears a financial valuation hurdle that supports a planned transfer of county land for affordable housing in Jackpot. The appraisal acceptance does not itself transfer title — that will depend on future rezoning, agreement stipulations and demonstrated development milestones.
