Nevada Works cites lithium lifecycle training and a hiring pilot with Lithium Americas

Milton Stewart told the commission Nevada Works is partnering with higher-education institutions, community colleges and industry to stand up a Tech Hub focused on the lithium lifecycle. He said the Governor’s Office of Workforce Innovation and a U.S. Department of Labor initiative support the battery workforce training and that stipends are available to help trainees attend programs.
Stewart cited a small pilot where Nevada Works provided stipends to trainees that Lithium Americas prioritized in hiring. "We were able to pay give them those individual stipends so that they could attend the training and then Lithium Americas has prioritized those folks in their hiring processes," Stewart said. The presentation did not require any board action.
