Town discusses NYSDOT 2026 road project and Jennings Park Pond permitting

During the supervisor’s report on Oct. 30, 2024, Supervisor Clay J. Arsenault told the board that the New York State Department of Transportation has planned a major road project through Long Lake for 2026 and asked whether the town would cede the TAP/CMAQ sidewalk grant to NYSDOT so the agency would take responsibility for sidewalks and related costs, including rebuilding the retaining wall at the ballfield. Supervisor Arsenault said NYSDOT needs a response from the town soon.
Arsenault also reported that town representatives (Supervisor Arsenault, Matt Newby, Paul Wilson, town attorney, CHA representatives, DEC officials and APA officials) met at APA headquarters in Ray Brook on Oct. 25 to discuss Jennings Park Pond permitting. The minutes state the meeting ‘‘went well’’ and that the permitting process should proceed as the town continues to work with agencies and complete required applications.
No formal action on the NYSDOT proposal or specific permitting steps was recorded in the Oct. 30 minutes; both matters were reported as items for ongoing coordination and follow-up.
