The Long Lake Town Board voted Sept. 25 to publish notice and hold a public hearing on a proposed local law to override the tax levy limit established by New York General Municipal Law §3-c for fiscal year 2025.
Under Resolution 56 of 2024 the board directed the Town Clerk to publish required notices, post the full text on the town website and make it available at the clerk's office. The public hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at Long Lake Town Hall; members of the public may submit written comments prior to the hearing.
Why it matters: an override local law would permit the town to set a property-tax levy above the statutory 2% (or CPI-based) limit under GML §3-c for the coming fiscal year; the hearing is the public step before any enactment. The resolution passed with unanimous support from the board.
