Health department announces overdose memorial, sun-safety outreach, dental program and new office manager

Barry (S4) updated the board on outreach and staffing: an International Overdose Awareness Beach Memorial is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31 at Smuggler's Beach, and the department is running sun-safety outreach through August with giveaway samples and materials.
Barry also said the department is planning dental-hygiene awareness in September and is coordinating with the Cape Cod Community College dental-hygienist program on outreach. He announced the health department has hired a new office manager who will start on the 17th of the month.
Barry described the overdose event and the sun-safety presence at public events as opportunities for family members and community speakers to participate and for staff to provide educational materials.
