The City Council voted to amend LJA Engineering's contract to expand the downtown concept master-plan area to include Gunter Park and nearby lake areas, increasing the contract price by $9,500 on top of the original $33,500. Council member (speaker 6) described the change as important because the larger area ties into existing concepts and could help create a destination downtown.
Council discussed who had engaged with property owners south of the park and noted councilman Richland had been in contact with a property owner receptive to cooperating on development concepts. A motion to approve the scope expansion passed unanimously.
Staff said LJA had already begun work tying the new area into the plan because it integrates with previously scoped concepts; the amendment is intended to ensure the expanded work is formally in the contract.
