Council awards $78,000 contract for North and Bow drainage improvements

The Gunter City Council on Feb. 5 awarded a $78,000 contract to PACE Construction to perform the North and Bow drainage improvements. Director Adam Adams (speaker 2) told the council the work is intended to restore the drainage feature to its originally designed function; the city had previously received cost estimates near $53,000 (in 2023) and had budgeted $75,000 for the project.
Adams said PACE Construction submitted the low bid and has worked with the city previously on landscaping and maintenance contracts. "I think the next bidder about him was a $160,000," Adams said; the council approved the contract and asked staff to move quickly to get work started once paperwork is complete.
Council recorded the approval as unanimous. Staff indicated the work will return the drainage system to property owners as it was designed and that the city will coordinate timing with easement holders.
