The Nevada City Council approved Ordinance No. 1079 on its second reading to add electric bicycles, electric scooters and other personal transportation devices to Chapter 76 of the Nevada Municipal Code.
Staff told the council the change was to update definitions and address use on interior park trails; staff said outreach will include social media and that fees are not anticipated during the initial transition: "There won't be fees associated for quite some time as it transitions in." Council discussed signage near the fourplex and interior trail exclusions to clarify where riding will be prohibited.
The ordinance passed on a recorded voice vote following discussion of implementation and signage plans; staff said they will coordinate messages with the municipal utilities billing or social channels as appropriate.
