Commissioner Jason Frost moved at the May 6 meeting to table a proposed increase in the county garbage rate so staff could research the cost of bringing collection back in-house; Commissioner Damon Hoyte seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board recorded no public speakers on the issue at that hearing.
County Manager Thomas Weaver said staff had identified several commercial accounts that were not paying for trash and that the county had sent letters requiring those businesses to set up accounts. The board directed staff to return with a cost analysis on in-house collection versus the proposed rate increase before taking further action.
