A Flagler County commissioner asked a local expert to provide a short briefing on data centers to inform the board’s forthcoming moratorium discussion.
During the special meeting on Aug. 3, 2026, a commissioner said he had spoken with a local expert identified in the room as "Matt" and asked him to give "a tiny little symposium of what data center facts are in today's world." Commissioners discussed coordinating with Ms. Payne from the regional council and planning staff to schedule experts and gather information so the board can "make an educated choice" on any moratorium or related policy action.
