Algonac schools report Top 10 seniors, state wrestling champion and $5,000 literacy grant

Ryan Melrose reported that the Algonac Jr./Sr. High School Class of 2025 Top 10 students are Anneliese Baumgarten; Audrey Beindit; Avery Baker; Caroline Roland; Daniel Coker; Jaycee Reams; Jena Dusenberry; Kate Bennett; Sky Langewicz; and Trevor Juengel. Melrose also congratulated Reid Hiltunen on a state wrestling championship and said the band earned a Division 1 rating at the band festival.
Amber Palicke of Millside Elementary reported March Is Reading Month activities and incentives, including prizes such as a free ticket to a Jimmy John's Field game and a free kids meal at a Chesterfield Chick-fil-A; she also reported that Mrs. Wood received a $5,000 MiFamily Engagement Grant to strengthen home-school literacy connections and that Mrs. Kuse received a Helen Pouch Memorial Fund Classroom Grant. Brooklynn Lestage reported Algonquin Elementary plans for M-STEP testing, including Chromebook use for grades 5 and 6 and post-break planning meetings for Grades 6–8 ELA teachers.
