West Carroll CUSD 314’s Transportation Committee discussed specific requirements for a potential new transportation facility at its Sept. 15 meeting.
Committee members and Transportation Director Ashley Hamilton agreed the facility should include two service/wash bays, an office for the transportation director, restrooms and a break room for drivers, parking for all district vehicles, and an on-site fuel tank. The minutes also reference discussion of covered parking or a roof for bus parking and the need for electrical power so buses can be plugged in.
The committee noted financing constraints: "the state reimburses school districts for building a structure, but the reimbursement is slow and only covers 80% of the cost," the minutes say, and members discussed that slow reimbursement as a planning consideration.
No formal site, budget or schedule was approved at the meeting; members agreed the list of required facility features will guide further study and budgeting.
