Junior-high staff tell board they were left without information after incident, cite morale concerns

A representative of the junior-high staff, Mrs. Thompson, told the Rankin School District #98 Board that 6th–8th grade teachers were frustrated after a recent incident because they learned of it from a staff member rather than from administration and because, she said, administration initially resisted having the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department involved.
Mrs. Thompson said teachers "struggled all day on Friday without having information from anyone in the building except the information that the one staff member provided," that there have been substantial emotions and anxiety, and that staff do not feel those concerns "have been acknowledged." She told the board that morale in the junior high was already low and that the recent situation "did not help."
