Rankin board approves policies from PRESS Issue #116
Summary
Board approved first reading/adoption of policies from PRESS Issue #116 (2:260, 2:265, 5:100, 7:20, 7:185). The motion passed 4–0–1 with Member Vargas abstaining.
The Rankin School District #98 Board voted to approve policies and administrative procedures from the Illinois Association of School Boards (PRESS) Issue #116, August 2024.
The policies approved for first reading/adoption include: 2:260 Uniform Grievance Procedures (updated); 2:265 Title IX Grievance Procedure (updated); 5:100 Staff Development Program (updated); 7:20 Harassment of Students Prohibited (updated); and 7:185 Teen Dating Violence Prohibited (updated). Member Nena Cox moved to approve the policies and Member Shannon Atkins seconded; the vote was four "Yea" with Member Titania Vargas abstaining (4–0–1).
Dr. Gordon reported the Policy Committee recommended the PRESS updates and that corresponding administrative procedures and exhibits were added to the district's AP Manual.
