The Rankin School District #98 Board authorized purchase of 13-week U.S. Treasury bills to invest district cash, with purchases to begin on or after Oct. 21, 2024.
The approved allocation calls for $1,500,000 for the Education Fund, $250,000 for the Building Fund and $500,000 for the Transportation Fund. Member Nena Cox moved the investment plan and Member Shannon Atkins seconded; the motion passed on a roll-call vote of four "Yea" with Member Titania Vargas abstaining (4–0–1).
Board members discussed short-term investments as a cash-management tool; Dr. Gordon will oversee execution consistent with the approved amounts and timing.
