He said that if that planned spending is excluded the district still projects a -$22,994 deficit and that the budget was prepared conservatively — estimating revenues low and expenditures high — so figures may improve by the time the Amended Budget is considered in June 2025.
Member Nena Cox moved to adopt the Original Budget and Member Shannon Atkins seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote of four "Yea" with Member Titania Vargas abstaining (motion carried 4–0–1). Dr. Gordon said ongoing monitoring and regular communication to the board will continue as the fiscal year progresses. No public comments were offered during the budget hearing.
The board's action formalizes spending priorities tied to capital work this year while leaving room to revisit the district's financial position when the Amended Budget is prepared.
