Board approves bid notice for high school front-porch repairs; multiple maintenance-grant projects scheduled

The Dakota CUSD #201 board approved a motion to let for bid the high-school front-porch project after administrators said rotting support columns present a safety concern. Board member Shane Riggle moved to let for bid, seconded by Jeremy Bradt; the motion passed 7–0.
Building/Grounds Director Tim Wilson detailed multiple maintenance-grant projects that the district plans to complete: replacement of support columns at the high-school front entrance, removal and capping of a crumbling boiler chimney by Scandrolli Construction (targeted June/July), installation of additional smoke detectors in five rooms to meet 10-year Health Life Safety recommendations, replacement of door closers in listed rooms, and a fire-alarm panel control-board replacement scheduled for spring break by Johnson Controls.
Administrators said the front-porch work will be paid partly from the maintenance grant and partly from O&M funds, noting that using O&M avoids having to delay for an HLS amendment. The board directed staff to proceed with the bid process and publicly post the RFP once the board-authorized let-for-bid motion was approved.
