Board interviews two finalists for Marysville superintendent; finalists to be selected

The Board of Education for Marysville Public Schools interviewed two candidates for the district's open superintendent position during a special meeting Sept. 11 at Marysville High School Media Center. The board heard from Ashley McCann Markham, principal and curriculum and special education director at Peck Community Schools, and from Susanne Carpenter, superintendent of Stephenson Area Public Schools.
John Silveri, MIL, provided information to the board about next steps in the selection process; the minutes note that six candidates were considered qualified and that the board will use applications, resumes, cover letters, supplemental materials and audience feedback to select finalists. The interviews were scheduled in the evening: Markham's interview ran from 18:04 to 19:29 and Carpenter's from 19:37 to 20:46.
President Dave Schmorrow opened the meeting at 6:01 p.m., Secretary Nicole Winston completed roll call showing seven members present, and Schmorrow led the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes record the district's citizen-comment rules and state that no citizens addressed the board during the public comment period.
After the discussion of next steps, Mr. Barry Kreiner moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Colleen Dodson and carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
