President John Smith called the Meridian CUSD 223 Board of Education to order Sept. 5, 2024 and, following a brief recess to a budget hearing, the board voted unanimously to approve the FY25 budget.
Dr. Caposey delivered the budget presentation during the hearing and reported, "we are 16% through the school year and we have spent 16% of our budget." There were no public comments during the hearing. The motion to approve the budget was made by Huber and seconded by Collins and passed with all members voting in favor (Rhodes, Welden, DeVries, Collins, Huber and Smith).
The approval formalizes the district's spending plan for the coming year. Board members did not record any public objections during the hearing, and the board noted routine budget-monitoring practices during the superintendent's report. The board will proceed with implementation under the superintendent's direction and will continue regular budget updates at future meetings.
