The Stamford Select Board received an update on highway operations, including recent equipment breakdowns and ongoing snow and bank clearing. Committee member reported a transmission problem that required the travel mechanic and said the 2019 Freightliner is typically operated by Mike.
Committee member said the town has been moving snow, clearing banks and working on intersections that the state has not consistently maintained this season. "The state typically does the main highway, but this year, we've been doing it periodically," the committee member said, adding that town crews had to take on some intersection work because state service was lacking.
Board members discussed coordination with state crews, the scheduling of repairs and the expected workload as more snow is forecast.
