The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Aug. 3 to certify the returns of the July 21, 2026 primary election after hearing presentations from county elections staff and the county recorder.
Vice Chair Lehi moved to “approve item number 1, canvas the election returns for the July 21st 2026 primary election including the revised addendum,” and the motion was seconded; the board then conducted a roll call in which each member praised election staff before voting. The clerk recorded five ayes and the motion passed.
The vote followed presentations detailing overall turnout, operational changes used in the primary and a small recount in the town of Gila Bend. In remarks explaining their votes, supervisors commended poll workers, central count staff and the coordination between the elections department and the recorder's office.
The board adjourned after the unanimous vote. The certified canvas as approved includes the revised addendum reviewed during the meeting and will be added to official records.
