Treasurer says district cash strong but flags $254,000 FY shortfall estimate
Summary
The district reported $848,000 in the bank and better-than-expected revenue vs. budget, but an updated FY26 forecast shows an estimated $254,000 shortfall driven by engineering fees and project timing; staff will review investment and contract timing to close the gap.

The Elko Television District's treasurer presented updated financial statements and told the board the district has more cash on hand than budgeted but faces a possible year-end shortfall.
"We had budgeted for this time period to have 550,000 in cash in the bank. And right now, we have 848,000 cash in the bank," the treasurer said, noting reformatting of statements to align with the state budget layout. She later summarized a revised projection: "we're kind of budgeting for this year to be 254,000 in the negative," driven largely by higher-than-expected engineering fees and project costs.
Board members discussed options including slowing expenditures, drawing on about $100,000 in liquid Raymond James funds, or timing receipts from a DOT contract that could cover roughly $30,000 if executed and paid before the fiscal year end. The treasurer offered to convene a budget-committee call to walk through the numbers in detail before finalizing the tentative budget for the April meeting.
