Councilman Mardi introduced Ordinance 1280-25, a special-emergency appropriation to fund a boroughwide reassessment under state statute N.J.S. 40A:4-53 and set a public hearing for final passage in June 2025.
"An ordinance entitled an ordinance authorizing a special emergency appropriation ... for the engagement of special consultants for a borough wide reassessment was introduced," Councilman Mardi read during the meeting. The ordinance text stated the borough clerk is authorized to publish the required notice and scheduled the second reading and public hearing at a June meeting at Borough Hall. Council members asked clarifying questions about cost and timing during the first-reading remarks.
Clerk remarks and a council roll call followed the reading. The council approved the ordinance on first reading and will consider final passage at the next meeting, when the public will have an opportunity to comment. The administration said it will provide additional details about procurement and timing before that vote.
