Parks Division approves $104,900 lighting contract for Campbell Street Soccer Field

Director Beegler said the project was advanced through the Vision Fund and a local soccer group: "They were awarded, $70,000 during the vision fund process for this lighting project." Beegler said the city plans to use Musco lighting—the same product being installed at the Dakota Fields Soccer Complex—and to piggyback on that installation to reduce mobilization costs. The planned installation calls for four light poles and 16 fixtures to allow evening play during shoulder seasons.
Committee member Laura Armstrong asked who would pay the electric bill; Beegler responded, "Most likely, we will be paying the light bill," and said a use agreement with Ignite Soccer will need to be negotiated because previous agreements did not anticipate field lighting. The committee approved the measure after the presentation on a motion by Bieberdorf and a second by Meyer.
Next steps: the authorized agreement can be executed and staff will finalize any necessary use agreement with Ignite Soccer that clarifies maintenance and utility payment responsibilities.
