Residents raise concerns about local roads, trees and a proposed medical marijuana facility

During the public-comment portions of the July 20 meeting several residents raised infrastructure and development concerns.
Visitor Mark Parrish spoke earlier in the meeting about an RV park development on Sullivan Road and expressed concerns about the project. Near the end of the meeting, Carolyn Joyce asked the Jury to address the condition of Danna Drive; Mr. Smiley asked Engineer Crosby to inspect the road. Katie Allen described damage to her property from trees on a neighbor’s lot; Mrs. Johnson advised that this is a civil matter and the parish may have no remedial authority. Cheryl Walters requested that the Jury examine the condition of Henry Road, and Mrs. Bacon asked Engineer Crosby to look at it. LaTonya Sanders raised concerns about a medical marijuana facility being developed on Stubbs Vinson Road and asked the Jury to note residents’ concerns.
No formal actions were taken on these items at the meeting; staff was asked to inspect roads and report back. The minutes record that members directed Mr. Crosby to look at Danna Drive and Henry Road following the comments.
