Saginaw Township Board approves two midyear teacher hires

The Saginaw Township Board of Education unanimously approved two midyear teacher appointments at a special meeting Feb. 10, 2025.

Under the Human Resources report, Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations Tienna Smith presented certificated-staff recommendations. "Motion offered by David Jaffe that the Board of Education employ Alyssa Rivera as a teacher beginning in the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year," the minutes record; the motion was seconded by Jenean Coughlin and adopted by roll call vote with all voting members recorded as yes. The appointment was noted as conditional "until the district administration receives and verifies to its satisfaction all of the required information and qualifications pertaining to her" (SEG 010).

The board also approved the conditional appointment of Allison Krenz at Sherwood Elementary. The minutes state: "Motion offered by Jenean Coughlin that the Board of Education employ Allison Krenz as a teacher beginning in the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year," seconded by Arik Smith and adopted by a unanimous roll call vote (SEG 011–SEG 012). Both hires are listed as effective for the second semester of the 2024–2025 school year and contingent on completion of routine verification steps by district administration.

The votes were recorded as "Yes: all; No: none." The record lists six board members present for roll call (Marianne Bird, David Booth, Janice Collison, Jenean Coughlin, David Jaffe and Arik Smith) and one absent (Secretary Michele DeShone).
