Brent Johnson, Public Works and Utilities director for the city of Sanford, said the department’s mission is to "do what we can to improve the quality of life for the residents of the city of Sanford." He told the city communications podcast that Public Works serves as the first team on-scene for unexpected events and remains until conditions are restored.
The episode, part of the city’s "Beyond City Hall" series, gathered division superintendents to explain daily operations, emergency staging and coordination with other departments. Johnson said the department aims to maintain essential services year-round, support special events and stage equipment during storms so crews can resume work quickly once roads are safe.
