The Lorain County Engineer submitted the 2025 Report on Bridges summarizing condition ratings for 237 county-owned structures and listed recent and planned bridge projects. County commissioners accepted the report March 13.
The engineer noted the county's inspection program covers bridges from 10 to 305 feet in span and provided a condition breakdown by rating category. "The report is intended to summarize the condition of the 237 bridges (structures over 10 feet in clear span) that the County owns and maintains," the engineer's letter stated. The board also awarded a contract to US Bridge of Cambridge, Ohio, for $142,246 to supply two galvanized steel beam superstructures for Hawley Road Bridges No. 0185 and 0279, with work to be completed by July 1, 2026 (Resolution No. 26-164).
Commissioners approved the contract after the engineer reported the project's official estimate and confirmed funding through the Permissive Engineer Bridge Project account.
