Mason committee to review NEOLA memorials policy, plans mental-health input

The Mason Board of Education Policy & Staff Committee agreed Sept. 25 to review NEOLA Policy 7250.01 (Memorials) and to seek outside expertise before proposing any changes to the full board.
Committee members said they will compare the district template with neighboring districts’ approved policies during an October review. After that review, the committee and Superintendent Gary Kinzer plan to invite appropriate mental-health professionals to the November committee meeting to offer a holistic perspective on memorials policy and community impact.
Committee members did not adopt any policy changes at the meeting. The discussion focused on the review timeline and the sources of expertise the committee wants available when it considers potential revisions. The committee’s next regularly scheduled meeting is Oct. 16, 2025.
