Committee reviews taxi-lane phases, hangar types and preliminary cost figures

Consultant engineer Dave Neto outlined a phased approach for taxi-lane and hangar development, labeling incremental work as Taxi Lane 1, Taxi Lane 2 and a future phase. He said recent construction experience shows a taxi-lane of roughly 400–500 feet can approach $1,000,000; the committee noted an AIP line item showing about $800,000 available.
"We've seen basically a taxi lane of about 4 to 500 feet cost close to 1000000 dollars," Neto said, framing the committee's expectations for phase one and the potential need to stagger later taxi-lane construction until additional funding arrives. He suggested that Taxi Lane 1 and 2 could be constructed under initial funding, with the third taxi lane pushed to a future phase.
The discussion considered tee hangars versus box hangars: Neto said there appears to be more interest in tee hangars and that the town could either set aside area for 4-unit or 6-unit nested tee hangars in the first phase or defer additional hangars until funding is secured. Committee members also debated orientation to maximize sun exposure and the potential tradeoffs between moving hangars east for taxiway efficiency and leaving some box-hangar spots.
