"It was a fantastic event, standing room only," he said of the high‑school graduation, and he told the board the district's VLC graduation included 35 VLC students and 125 adult‑education students — the largest VLC class to date.
Hetherton also summarized Honors Night recognitions and said the board distributed four $5,000 awards from the O'Brien Trust this year. He reminded the board that Friday is an end‑of‑year professional development day when years‑of‑service and teacher/support‑staff awards will be handed out, said hiring for the next school year is underway, and noted Coach Bierman received a Coach of the Year award for baseball. The student board representative (identified later in the meeting as Sophia) told the board underclassmen are preparing for finals and that the last day of school is June 11, 2025.
